Vocational Services
The purpose of Goodwill Industries of Ventura and Santa Barbara Counties, Inc. is to provide vocational training and job placement services to individuals with barriers to employment.
Computer and Office Applications
The Computer and Office Application Skills Training program offers a 13 week course in four separate modules. Students may choose from Computer Office Specialist, Computerized Accounting/Bookkeeping/Payroll Specialist, Computerized Data Base Management, or Computerized Medical Office Billing/Coding/Records Processor.
Building Bridges to Financial Independence
Based on individual need, participants may receive job readiness training, paid work experience, basic computer operations training, placement services, job coaching, post placement services and intensive case management, including referral for ancillary services.
Mobile Job Readiness Class
The Mobile Job Readiness Class provides job readiness training at various sites throughout Ventura County. Participants are taught resume writing, interview techniques, job application process, identification of marketable job skills, and/or barriers to employment and solutions, and effective job search techniques, including the use of the Internet.
General Entrance Criteria
Individuals with an identifiable barrier to employment who meet the following entrance criteria may be eligible for services.
- 18+ years of age
- Able to care for personal needs with limited accommodations
- Able to arrange/provide transportation
- Ambulatory or mobile non-ambulatory
- Has necessary documentation to complete I-9 form
- Able to benefit from participation in program
- Able to meet eligibility criteria for funding source, if applicable
